Anna Elizabeth Engeland was born in 1858 in Germany. [1] She was the second child of Heinrich Engeland (1828-) and Elisabeth (Steller) Engeland (abt.1831-).
The Engeland family migrated from Germany to Ontario, Canada around 1868 between the births of son John (1867, Germany) and Catharine (1869, Canada). The family is listed in the 1871 and 1881 censuses of Canada. The 1881 Census lists Heinrich's occupation as "peddler"[2][3]. Later in 1881, the family migrated again from Ontario to Chicago[4]. In Canada and the United States, the family name was sometimes spelled "England"
In December 1881, Anna married Conrad Gleiser (1855-1919)[5]. Between 1883 and 1892 they had five children.[6] They lived at the same location, 4430 S Langley Ave, Chicago Illinois, in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 Censuses.[4][6][7]
Anna died in 1936 and is buried in Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago[8][9].
