Biography

Emily was born on 16th April 1896 at Chelsea Workhouse, Arthur Street, Chelsea. She was the Illegitamate daughter of Frances Faithfull, a Dressmaker of 41 Riley Street, Chelsea. ^[1]Her father is known through his divorce papers, as the Mother, Frances (known a Carrie) was sited in them. He was John Vickers

In 1901 she appears on the Census in Fulham, South East London, Living with her parents, John aged 40, Caroline aged 27 and her 2 year old brother John. Emily is listed as aged 4 born in Chelsea, Middlesex^[2].

On 26th Aug 1901 Emily was admitted into Ackmar Road School, Hammersmith & Fulham, London. On the register she is recorded as admission number 1683 Vickers Emily father John Vickers of Dolby Road, date of birth 16th April 1896^[3].

By 1911, they are living at Belsize Avenue, West Ealling, Middlesex. She is still living ith her parents, John Smales aged 51, Caroline aged 39, and 2 brothers, John aged 12 and young George aged 2. She states that she is a Shop assistant, aged 15 and was born in Chelsea, Middlesex^[4] .

In 1915 Emily married, on 26th December 1915, Frederick Marshall age 25 a Bacholer Soldier of 48 Cpoten Lane, Ealing, Father Robert George Marshall, deceased a Cooper and Emily Vickers aged 20 a spinster of 52 South Ealing road, Ealing, father John Vickers a Secretary^[5].

Frederick was born in Canada, So Emily went back with Frederick to Canada.

Emily and Frederick went on to have 3 sons, Robert John Derrick, Cycil Frederick and Gilbert Vivian.

Emily appered on the 1921 Newfondland census,^[6], living in St John`s West, Newfoundland, Canada. Living with her husband Fred aged 30, Emily aged 25 born in London, England, and 2 of her boys, Derek aged 4 and Cyril age 0, and a lady by the name of Beatrice Moores.

The 1935 Newfondland census lists Emily living at 117 Bond Street, St John`s East, Newdoundland. She is living with husband Frederick W Marshall head aged 44, Emily D. Marshall wife 39 sons Derek aged 18, Cycil aged 14 and Vivian aged 10 and a domestic servent, Stanley M.Charfield aged 21^[7].

1945 Newfoundlad census lists Emily living with her husband and family. place St John`s East, Newfoundland, Canada. Frederick Maeshall aged 54, Emily 48, Vivian aged 20 son, Cyril aged 24 son, Ruth Marshall daughter-in-Law aged 25, and 2 servents.^[8].

She passed away on 16th April 1960 at her home in St John`s East, Newfoundland, Canada.
