Mary (Furrin) Drew was a Virginia colonist.

Mary was born about 1605 in England. Her parents are at this time unknown.

Marriage & Children

Many online family trees cite a marriage between Edward Drew and Mary Furrington (alt Furrin, Hurrington) on 21 November 1639 in Stepney, Middlesex, England.[1] Edward Drew was in Virginia in 1639 and could not have married in England. (Strutton-11 16:21, 3 March 2023 (UTC))

Edward's wife was named Mary, last name at birth unknown. He apparently married her in Virginia between 1639 and 1647.

Research Notes

Since Edward did not marry until he arrived in Virginia, his wife was not the Mary ffurington/Hurrington in the 1639 marriage record in Stepney, Middlesex, England. It is known the her given name was Mary from a record naming Mary as wife of Edward Drew in 1647. (Strutton-11 16:21, 3 March 2023 (UTC))

The marriage record normally cited by online family trees gives Mary ffurington (alt Hurrington) as wife of Edward Drew. However, as pointed out in research notes above, this is not the correct Edward Drew. The immigrant to Virginia, Edward Drew, married in Virginia sometime between 1639 and 1647. He was not in England in 1639 to marry anyone.

Mary's last name at birth should be changed to Unknown.

UNKNOWN-75281 and Furrin-1 appear to represent the same person because: these are profiles for the mother of Richard b Surry in 1620/wife of Edward. Please merge. (If there is a marriage record that's the source of her maiden name Furrin, could you post info about that? If her maiden name is not known, before the merge, change one of the profiles to have LNAB Unknown - just initial cap instead of all uppercase). Thanks!

could you check the marriage date? Could 1639 be a typo for 1619? (Son Richard born 1620 in Virginia.)
