Biography

Martha Futrell was born about Nov. 1836 in North Carolina according to census records. She married Josephus "Joe" Weston on 20 Jan. 1853 at Bertie County, North Carolina.[1] She and Joe appeared on the census of 16 Aug. 1860 at Bertie County, North Carolina.[2] Josephus died in the U. S. Civil War and she was a domestic when she and a daughter Betty appeared on the census of 20 July 1870 in the home of John Brady in Rich Square, Northampton County, North Carolina.[3]

She appeared on the census of 11 June 1900 in the home of her son Henry Clay Weston in Matoaca, Chesterfield, Virginia. Record states she had 7 children but only four living.[4]. Found no other records for her so don't know where or when she died.

Her son Henry Clay Weston and family moved back to Halifax Co , NC before 1910 census and Martha is not listed in Henry Weston's family. Therefore assume she died before 1910. It appears she did not remarry after the Civil War.
