Biography

Jenetta (Gaines) Wilborne is a part of US Black heritage.

Jenetta was born about 1849 in Charlotte County, Virginia. She was the daughter of John and Henrietta Gaines. She married James Edward (Ed) Wilborne around 1865. They raised a large family in Roanoke, Halifax, Virginia where they farmed. She was widowed sometime after 1910. In 1930, at age 80, she was living with her son Willie and his family in Roanoke. She passed away in 1934 in Halifax County and was buried in a family cemetery.
