William was born approximately 1821 and passed away in 1882.

family story William Gillis was not his name. He supposedly was with the British Army in India and deserted. He is In Jail in Brisbane in 1852. , (A young chap later overheard a conversation and thought he heard the name was O'Shea, or Shea.) In jail he gave the name of the boat he came to Australia in. and the year. It did come that year, and only came a couple of times.(13 years later he could remember that- no Google ) That year it had convicts in from the British army in India. No Gillis. Currently following up convict on the boat- Patrick Sheehan, from Limerick. After some years he disappears off the convict records, no death recorded, no pardon etc. No state death records- He had absconded earlier and been found., He had a scar between the eyebrows, and a photo of William has a scar or furrow there!!!!! William's first son got Patrick as a second name. William was released from jail and there was to be no mark against his name. Otherwise he swam here.
