George Goldsbrough, born 16 Jan 1806, 1st son of William Goldsbrough (weaver, native of the parish of Hurworth) by his wife Elinor Close (native of the parish of Hurworth) was baptised on 6 Apr 1806 at Hurworth, All Saints. [1]

The parents were William Goldsborough and Elinor Close who married at Hurworth on 23 Nov 1803. The marriage was by banns, bachelor and spinster. [2] Witnesses were Charles Hunter and Ann Goldsbrough. [Note: Goldsborough in the register, but both William and the witness Ann both signed Goldsbrough.] [3]
