Mary Goodwin, daughter of Jesse and Rachel (Brace) Goodwin, was born in New Hartford, Connecticut on April 14, 1766. [1][2]a
She married July 22, 1784, Asa Gilbert. [1] Asa was born at New Hartford on November 5, 1755, son of Theodore and Mary (Waters) Gilbert. [3][4]
They resided in New Hartford and Barkhamsted, Connecticut where Asa died on September 23, 1836. [3]
Mary received the widow's pension commencing on September 23, 1836, after Asa's death, for his service in the Revolutionary War. [5]
Mary Goodwin Gilbert died on April 6, 1843 at Barkhamsted [3][6]and is buried with Asa in the Barkhamsted Center Cemetery there. Her inscription reads: In Memory of Mary Gilbert wife of Asa Gilbert who died April 6, 1843 AE 77 yrs [7]
