At the age of 11, Charles emigrated to America with his mother and sisters aboard the ship Marsala, departing from Hamburg, Germany on Dec. 11, 1890 and arriving in New York on Jan. 3, 1891.[4]
He married Meta W. Possehn, daughter of August Possehn and Emilie Stenzel, on Mar. 17, 1903 in Ionia, Michigan.[5]
Charles died on Nov. 1, 1964 and is buried at the Balcom Cemetery in Berlin, Michigan.
