Jonathan Graves was born about 1711 in Colchester, New London, Connecticut, to Benjamin Graves and Mary Ruth Sterling.
He married Mary Tisdale, daughter of James Tisdale and Abigail Coleman, and they had five children. He died after 1752 when he was mentioned in his father's will. At that time he was probably in Shelburne Falls, Franklin, Massachusetts.
