DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:

Another update:

Sorry, that last comment was apparently the wrong James C. Hagerman (both born in March 1823). Looks like my date of 01 March 1823 is correct. He died 12 March 1902, age 79 yrs 12 days. That would make the birthdate 01 March 1823. Someone must have misread Mar. as Nov. Source: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/26778870

Update:

I found the burial of James C. Hagerman, and the gravestone says born Mar. 20, 1823, so that is presumably the correct date. That would separate his birth from Hannah's birth by almost 10 months. Source: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/138922108

In the list of children (in the biography), it says James C. Hagerman was born 1 Nov 1823. This is too close to the birth of Hannah in January 1924 (only 2 1/2 months later).

My notes say that James C. Hagerman was instead born on 1 March 1823, which seems more likely, since it would place the births of James and Hannah 10 1/2 months apart.
