Joshua Hanks, son of Joseph Hanks and Susanne Abshire, was born near Lafayette, Louisiana c.1832. When he was three he was baptized, as recorded by the priest at St. John's in Lafayette, Louisiana.[1]
His name on the baptism document is Joseph, commonly the first part of a boy's prenom in this Louisiana French enclave. An older brother born c.1829 went by Joseph (at least in the records).

Hanks-3326 and Hanks-2476 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, parents, wife (Istre is pronounced East). Not sure where FamilySearch got the September 6 date, but he was baptized on December 6, 1835 at age 3. This is the one to merge with.
Hanks-2866 and Hanks-2476 do not represent the same person because: Did we agree these were two different people based on both of them having children within 5 months of each other with different wives? If you want to revisit this merge, send it to me again.
I sent you an email discussing our miscommunication. I believe the different wives were married to the 2 different brothers, and both brothers were Josephs. This profile (Joseph Joshua), married Marie Istre, and yours (Joseph Jr-- you have married to Marie Menard, but I think she married the older brother Joseph) both represent the younger brother. So let's talk about that.
Hanks-2866 and Hanks-2476 appear to represent the same person because: Joseph was a very common 1st name in this community. Maybe his name was "Joseph Joshua" or maybe the priest made an error, but there was already a son in the family who went by "Joseph" (at least on the records) living at the time of this one's birth and baptism. This one is also called Joshua in some records. Re: the baptism, the record says he was 3, so his DOB is c.1832. These are duplicates, please merge.
