Sarah Marguerite Thornton was born Febr. 6, 1898 at North Platte, the daughter of William and Margaret Sanders Harrow. She received her education at Lexington and Callaway schools. June 1, 1915, she was united in marriage to Ray B. Thornton, Calloway, Ne. The couple resided in Tobias and Humboldt before moving to Boelus. Mrs. Thornton was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Boelus. She departed this life on Dec. 15, at Long Beach, California at the age of 74 years. Surviving are her husband, 5 daughters, Mrs. Margaret J. Spicer of Long Beach, Mrs. Dorothea M. Neas of Norman, Ola (sic), Mrs. Mary E. Sims of Quenemo, Kansas, Mrs. Joan Nielsen of Boelus and Mrs. Patricia A. Dearing of Tulsa, Okla., one son Ray B. Thornton Jr. of Redwood City, Calif., 25 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral was held Dec. 19 at Grace United Methodist Church in Boelus, arrangements being made by Jacobsen Mortuary. The Rev. Bruce Matthews was in charge. Mrs. Harold Franssen was organist, and Eugene Nitsch vocal soloist. Interment was at Westlaw Memorial Cemetery, Grand Island. Casketbearers were Cleo Quest, Andy Jensen, Kermit Ericsen, George W. Sorensen, Glen Nielsen and Loran Nielsen.
