Biography

Alfred Hay was born in 1846 in Campbell Town, Van Diemen’s Land, the son of Jane Hay and William Hay.^[1][2]

He was married twice.^[2]

His first marriage was to Annie Dufrayer on 24 May 1877 at Bendock Station in New South Wales.^[3] Their children were:

• A daughter (1879–1879)^[6]
• Cedric Rupert Hay (1880–1953)^[7]
• Harold Dudley Hay (1882–1956)^[8]

Alfred married Cecil Frances Rowe on 9 May 1900 at St Patrick's Cathedral in Victoria.^[10][11] Their children were:

When he died, on 30 January 1918 in Armadale, Victoria, he left behind a family of four sons and six daughters.^[2] At the time of his death, he was one of the best known Riverina pastoralists.^[18]
