Biography

John Heeney was born in 1826 in Dublin, Ireland, the son of Mary Frayne and John Heaney.^{[citation needed]}

He was a tailor.^[1]

He married Lucy Quigley in 1851 in Dublin.^{[citation needed]} Their children were:

• Mary Heeney (1852–1932)^[2]
• William Joseph Heeney (1866?–1921)^[3]

They emigrated to Australia in 1863 on the "Maryborough".^[4]

John died on 28 June 1894 in Northcote, Victoria, aged 68 years.^[5] His remains were interred on 30 June 1894 at the Melbourne General Cemetery in Carlton, Victoria.^[1]
