Biography

Barthelemy Henry is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 11-Right La Ville d'Archangel. Listed with him is his wife Anne Bourg and four children: Francois, Jacques, Barthelemy and Marie. ^[1]

Barthelemy Charles Henry was born on 16 May 1775 in Ville-Aubel, Cotes d'Armor, France, son of Barthelemy Henry and Anne Radegonde Bourg.^[2]

"Barthelemy-Charles HENRY, son of Barthelemy [HENRY] & Anne BOURG, born at La Villeaubel, and baptized same day 16 May 1775 at Pleudihen, Cotes-du-Nord, France. Sponsors: Anselme LANDRY & Rose DOIRON."

"Barthelemy HENRY, age 9, son of Barthelemy & Anne BOURG, travlling with them and three other children as the 20th family (of 6 persons) on "La Ville d'Archangel" which embarked in France on 12 Aug 1785, debarked in Louisiana on 3 Dec 1785."

Barthelemy Charles (23) married Jeanne Anne Bourg (20) (born in La Gravelle, Cotes d'Armor on 16 Jan 1778; died in Lafourche, Louisiana on 3 Feb 1845), daughter of Jean Bourg and Anne Josephe Daigre, on 27 Aug 1798 in Plattenville, Assumption, Louisiana. One daughter was Rosalie Cecile (Henry) Thibodeau, but there are eight children listed here.

On 19 Jul 1798, a dispensation was requested for impediment of consanguinity in the 3rd & 4th grades.

"Juana's father is 71 years old with four children. Juana is 23 years old. Bartolome's father as wll [sic] as Juana's came down from New Madrid where they had been robbed by Indians... Both families are Acadians. After leaving Acadia they went to France and many are reunited in New Orleans." HENRRY is 25 years old."^[4]

Barthelemy Charles died on 27 Jul 1847 in Thibodaux, Lafourche, Louisiana, United States aged 72.^[5]

"Barthelemi HENRY died 27 Jul 1847 at age 70 years [sic]. (Thib.Ch.: v.1, #387)."

"Barthelmy HENRY died Aug [sic] 1847, married to Gendre or Jeanne BOURG, seven children listed (two deceased). Request for inventory dated 6 Jan 1848 (Houma Ct.Hse.: Succ. #191)."
