Biography

Ira Hicks was born on March 30, 1761.^[1] He was the son of Samuel Hicks and Thankful Bowen.

28. Ira HICKS (Samuel , Joseph , Daniel , Daniel , Thomas , James , Baptist , Thomas , John ) was born on 30 Mar 1761 in Warren, Bristol Co., RI. He died about May 1830 in Dorchester, Westmorland Co., NB.

Ira married Sarah THORNTON. Sarah was born in 1765 in Meddybemps, Washington Co., ME. She died in 1830/1835.

They had the following children:

2. F ii Abigail HICKS was born about 1787 and died on 28 Apr 1861.

HICKS, Ira. Parish of Dorchester, Westmorland Co., Farmer. Will dated 24 April 1830, proved 2 June 1830. One-third part of my farm in Dorchester to son Charles HICKS. One-third part of my undyked marsh, my buildings, livestock and farming utensils to wife Sarah HICKS for life and at her decease to my grandson Israel HICKS. Daughter Jane CROWSON 25 pounds. Son Israel HICKS 15 pounds. Son Ira HICKS 5 pounds. Wife Sarah HICKS Lot 9 in Letter C division in the Township of Sackville with all my household furniture to bve at her disposition. Son Charles HICKS 21 acres of my diked marsh in Dorchester. Daughters Sarah PATTISON, Elizabeth CULTER and Rebecca ROY each 25 pounds. Son Valentine HICKS 21 acres of my undyked marsh in Dorchester and the remaining one-third part of my undyked marsh and upland. Daughter Abigail ROY, Thankful SEARS and Mary WILKINSON each 25 pounds. Grandson Israel HICKS to live with my wife and support and maintain her during her life. Son Charles HICKS the privilege of living in that part of my dwelling house where he how lives until such time as he gets a house ready to move into. Wife Sarah HICKS and son-in-law Thomas CROWSON executors. Witnesses: John GOODALL, William ATKINSON, Mariner LAMB.
