Research Notes
The Jewett Genealogy reported his birth at Groton, Massachusetts. However, it is not found in Groton Vital Records, but in neighboring Pepperell Vital Records ... but the Pepperell source link is bogus. So, for now, we'll just list the birth place as Middlesex county.
Hillsborough County Probate: Joseph Jewett, 1792, Amherst, Adm., #05367: There are only 3 papers in his file: Bond, Inventory & Accounting. On 28 May 1792 Josiah Jewett and David Stewart of Amherst, yeomen, paid 100 pounds bond. Josiah was appointed administrator of the estate of his father. The inventory contained normal items for a farming family of that time period. They had a number of bushels of rye, corn, beans and malt; farm tools, kitchen items, etc.
