DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Charles by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Charles:
Also, Ruth Dyson was NOT my grandmother. Ruth Dyson was born in North Carolina, and died in 1834 in Pike County, KY. She is the mother of the Charles Kennedy that was born in North Carolina in 1770. He is NOT my uncle Charles. This is a separate Kennedy line.
The name Dyson comes into our Kennedy lineage when Isaac Kennedy (Charles' half-brother) married Lydia Dyson.
Charles was my 3x great uncle. His brother Peter was my 3x great-grandfather. You have the wrong date of death for Charles. It was 1834 when Charles, his wife Jane, and sons Miles and Robert all died within a few weeks of each other from the Cholera epidemic that went through Kentucky, starting in 1832. His military records show July 22,1834 as his date of death. That is what is on his headstone also. I have been to his cemetery in Cadiz, KY. Charles and his father are both Revolutionary War Patriots recognized by the government, Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution, of which I am a member.
Also, his mother and father either divorced or she passed after son John was born. Ruth was the mother of Charles, Peter. Moses and John. In 1777 John married Elizabeth Countryman. John, ELizabeth and the four boys moved to Kentucky from Maryland. John and ELizabeth had six more boys together - Henry, James, Daniel Isaac, William and George. John and ELizabeth are buried together high on a hill where their farm used to be in Nelson County, KY along Wilson Creek. I put the GPS coordinates in Find A Grave in 2019 when I found the cemetery again.
