Louise B. Kophamer was born in Illinois in about 1887, probably in October. She was a daughter of Louis Kophamer and Mattie Otten.
Louisa B. Kophamer appeared in her father's household for the 1900 U.S. Census at Genesee Township, Whiteside County, Illinois. She was listed as 12 years old, born in October of 1887 in Illinois, was attending school and able to read and write. She was living with her parents and six of her siblings.[1]
Louise Kophamer married Henry Cassens on 12 February 1908 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, probably in Sterling, Whiteside County.[2]
Louise Cassens was listed in the household of her husband for the 1910 census at Hopkins Township, Whiteside County as 21 years old, born in Illinois and married 2 years. She was the mother of 1 child, and was able to read and write. She was living on a rented farm with her husband, their son Alfred L. and a hired man, Charles Knight from Maryland.[3]
Louise B. Cassens appeared again in Hopkins Township, for the 1920 census as 33 years old and born in Illinois. Louise was living with her husband, four of their children, and Henry's brother Ackard (Eckhard).[4]
Louise and her family had moved to Mount Pleasant, Whiteside County by the time the 1930 census was enumerated. Louise Cassens was recorded as 42 years old, first married at the age of 20. She was living on a rented farm with her husband and four of their children.[5]
Louise was still in Mount Pleasant Township for the 1940 census, and was recorded as 53 years old and living with her husband Henry, on a rented farm with two children.[6]
Henry E. Cassens died on 1 November 1952 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois.[7]
According to an obituary for her son Alfred, Louise Cassens was still alive and living in Prophetstown, Whiteside County, Illinois in December of 1971.[8]
According to My Ostfriesian Ancestors in Whiteside County, Robert G. Cassens, 2005, Louise B. (Kophamer) Cassens died 21 October 1974. Louise and Henry are both buried at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, Whiteside County, Illinois.[2]
