Marie Jeanne LaFleur was born about 1734 or 1735 (the date estimate based on her mother's [unsourced] and her first child's dates of birth) in Fort Toulouse, La Louisiane, Nouvelle-France, a daughter of Jean Andre Lafleur (1709–1782) and Marguerite Brignac (1718–~1803).
They went west to Louisiana after the French lost Mobile to England after the Seven Years War ended in 1763. They were counted on the census in Opelousas, Louisiana in 1777 with eight children.[2]
Marie Jeanne died and was buried on July 29, 1803 in Opelousas, Louisiana Territory, United States, a few years younger than the priest's estimate ("about age 75").[3][4]
