Biography

John L. Leachman was born Oct 20 1890 to William F. Leachman and Catherine Jenkins Leachman. John Leachman married Deloria Luttrell Ivy and they lived in Calhoun County, Mississippi. John Leachman passed away June 17 1963 in hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. [1] and is bureid in Antioch Cemetery located in Calhoun County, MS.

Obituary

John Loy Leachman, 72, of Rt. 1, Banner, died at the Kennedy Veterans Hospital in Memphis about 11:00 Monday Morning, following a lengthy illness. A member of the Baptist Church, a veteran of WWI, a farmer, a director in the Bank of Bruce, a trustee of the Bruce school for many years and a member of the county school board for several years. He had been a director of the Pontotoc Electric Power Association since its organization and an ASC county committee man for 17 years. Services were held at Lantrip Baptist Church with Rev. Cap Gaston, Rev. J. V. Wilson and Rev. C. J. Purvis officiating. Burial was in Sarepta Cemetery. Cook Funeral Home of Bruce, Ms was in charge.

Mr. Leachman leaves his wife Mrs. Deloria Luttrell Leachman; two sons, Loy Wayne and Robert Earl Leachman, Bruce, a step-son Thomas D. Ivy, Lincoln Park, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Bobby Claunch, Ripley, TN, Mrs. Jerry Moorehead, Nashville, TN, and Miss Dianne Leachman, Banner; a brother Jack Leachman, Memphis, TN; 2 sisters, Mrs. Hollis Cain and Mrs. Fred Cain, Banner; a half sister, Mrs. Minnie Howell of Banner and five grandchildren.

Find a Grave lists him as dying in 1933 yet he is on the 1940 census. No gravestone is shown on Find a Grave so I haven't entered a death date.
