Helen was Choctaw.

Cora was born 17 Apr 1886 at Milton, Moshulatubbee District, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, the daughter of James Leard and Cora McCarty. Cora passed away 24 Dec 1971 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. She is buried at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, Los Angeles County, California.[2]

The sources listed from the “Oklahoma Applications for Allotment, Five Civilized Tribes, 1899-1907” show the Oklahoma and Indian Territory, Land Allotment Jackets for Five Civilized Tribes, application for allotment affidavit, Choctaw Citizenship Certificate. [3][4][5]

note: Cora Helen Davis nee Leard was also known as Helen Cora in some documents and on her grave marker. Cora Helen was used on both children's birth certificates and some early documents. In later life it appears she preferred the name Helen Cora Davis.
