Biography

Claude Lejeune was born about 1684 in Acadie, Nouvelle-France, son of Martin Lejeune (abt. 1661–aft. 1729) and Jeanne Marie Kagigconiac (1661–bef. 1699).[1]

In 1686, at Port la Haive, Claude was living with his parents, Martin LEJEUNE, aged 25, and Jeanne, an Indian, and his unnamed sister. No ages were listed for the children or his mother. Also, no land or livestock were listed. He was living next door to his uncle, Pierre.[2]

Claude (20) married Anne Marie Gaudet (15) (born about 1689 in Port Royal, Acadie; daughter of Jean Gaudet and Jeanne Henry),inhabitants of Petite Riviere, on 14 Sep 1705 in Port-Royal, Acadie. Witnesses were Pierre Godet, Pierre Briand and Monsieur Mius.[3][4] Their known children were:

  1. Marie Lejeune (abt. 1705– ) .
  2. Marguerite Lejeune (1719– )

He died before 19 November 1725 in Acadia.[5]

In the original 1686 census at Port la Haive, sauvagesse de nation was transcribed as Indian. Also, the newborn unknown girl was handwritten later in the original census as Anne. Because most trusted genealogists are treating this unknown girl, born about 1686, as a different girl, Anne, born about 1687, will remain a different girl.
