Biography

Jan Longstreet was born 13 Jan 1711/2.

John Longstreet's name appears as a vestryman in a deed that Thomas William Moore, of Parrsborough, King's County, Nova Scotia, esquire, granted to the Church of England on 12 August 1788.[1]

On August 8, 1795, Governor Parr granted 21,380 acres to a large number of men, most of whom were Loyalist Refugees, new to the province, one or two, however, being men who had previously lived in other townships of King's. The names on this grant are: ..., Capt. John Longstreet, ...[2]

Like many other United Empire Loyalists, John chose to return to the United States.

He died circa 1805 in New Jersey. An article in the 5 Jan 1805 edition of the Columbian Centinel reported that John Longstreet, Esq. died about 1805 in New Jersey aged 95.[3]

It is recorded in the Crown Land Office that the rights of John Longstreet, ..., were excheated May 14, 1814..[4]
