" I regret to have to chronicle the death of Mr John (Lawrence) Lyne, aged 74, who died at his residence on Wednesday night (27th) at 10 o'clock after nearly a month's illness borne with great patience. His father was William Lyne, and his uncle the late Ethelbert Lyne. Mr Lyne came out with his parents as a boy from England and spent a lot of his time in and around Collingwood. His funeral took place to-day (29th May), the ceremony being performed by the Rev. J. H. Dart, Vicar of Wakefield, when he was buried in St. John's Churchyard, alongside his uncle Ethelbert. He leaves two daughters and one son, Margaret, Mary and John."[5]
