Biography

No birth record for Lucy Mapplebeck has been found. It is surmised that she was daughter of Thomas Mapplebeck and his wife, Hannah Ducker. A Thomas was given as her father at the time of her marriage and these parents would have brought the name Ducker into the Fenton family.

She married merchant Benjamin Fenton, son of Francis Fenton and his wife, Elizabeth Roebuck, at Skelbrooke in Yorkshire on the 22nd of November 1808.[1]

Lucy died on the 5th of August 1835 and was buried at Sheffield Cathedral. [2]

"Beneath lie the ashes of John Roebuck who died AD 1752 and those others of the family whose names cannot be deciphered. Also the body of Arthur Thomas Fenton son of Benjamin and Lucy Fenton descendant of the Roebuck Family who died Nov. 20th 1823 aged 18 months. Also the Body of Lucy Fenton Wife of Benjamin Fenton and Mother of the above Arthur Thomas who departed this life Aug 5th 1835 in her (48th?) year." [3]
