William Marvin is Notable.
Appointed Provisional Governor of Florida by Pres. Andrew Johnson and tasked with preparing Florida for re-admittance to the Union. He resigned in December 1865 and was elected by the Florida Legislature as a Democratic US Senator. The Republican US Senate refused to recognize his election and he retired back to New York, refusing to run for any office again.
