  • First-hand information. Entered by John McBee at registration.

John Odus McBee was born on 20 Jan 1938 in Dewar, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the youngest son of Pryor (Buster) McBee and Katie Lewis. John attended Dewar Schools beginning in the first grade thru the 12th grade. He graduated in 1956.

And because Dewar was a very small town with no jobs available, John join the U.S. Navy for four years. I assumed that because of the lack of jobs, 7 others join the Navy also. Eight boys from a very small town joining the Navy at the same was news worthy. The Navy took pictures of us during the first few weeks of boot camp and the Henryetta Daily FreeLancer publish the pictures and wrote our story.

After serving at different Navy bases for three years, I was transferred to Whidbey Air Navel Base where I agree to go on a blind date arranged by my bunk mate. The blind date was a game changer. On Sept 2020 my wife and I celebrated our sixty wedding anniversary .
