NEW or LATEST INFORMATION

New Information: 13 Dec 2016 I think the key to tracking down Andrew McBeath, or at least a big help, is going to be in finding the history of Joseph Havens aka Peter McBeath b. 1805. Andrew son marries Rachel McGee whose father is one of five McGee brothers who travelled in the McAfee Company west into into Kentucky. In fact I just came across some property papers involving a haven who had land on Meadow Creek. This is significant b/c William McBeath b. 1860 later buys or is given land on Meadow Creek by his McGee father in law. So clearly the McBeath family was ties into the McGee and McAfee company pretty tight. We also know that the McGee 'S and McAfee's migrated from Ireland and it is highly probable that Andrew came with them along with the Havens.

I have always thought Andrew was a Scot, but given this information, I am highly thinking that he immigrated directly from Ireland.

Let tie this up even more. William McBeath's sister in law Mary Polly McGee's first husband was a Joseph Havens. Also his father in law Robert McGee was born in 1740 Ireland around the same time as Andrew. Mary Polly McGee married Joseph Havens in Montgomery Co., VA on Oct 23, 1800. They most likely had a son in 1805 Joseph Havens who went on to be raised by William McBeath as Peter McBeath.

Mary Polly McGee goes on to marry her first cousin in Merced Co, KY on May 12, 1828. So when exactly did the first Joseph Havens die.

It is highly unlikely that Andrew McBeath is the son of David McBeath and Elspeth Mason of Caithness, Scotland. They have been removed.

Getting further information on Andrew seems like running into a brick wall.

It is rather irritating, but that's how it is.

I attached multiple documents to Andrew McBeath today, that were acquired from the Chester County Archives. They show his being in Chester County, PA from 1756 - 1789 as well as being in Frederick County, VA in 1782. Of particular importance is it shows an Alexander McBeath living in the same township of New London, which is further circumstantial evidence proving their relation at the least if not being brothers.
Can you add a note under the main section for this guy. Something like:

CAUTION RESEARCH CAREFULLY!!! When researching this Andrew McBeath of Chester County, Pennsylvania and later Frederick County, Virginia, PLEASE do not confuse him with the Andrew McBeth, Esq of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania who married Sarah Fleming McBeth. While there appears to be a very distant relation between the two by marriage, they are never the less different men.

In Early Adventurers on the WesternWaters by Mary B. Kegley and F.B. Kegley. v.1; p.194

"William Black was married in 1793 to Jane McBeth, daughter of Andrew and Sarah Clinton McBeth, and it was William who petitioned the General Assembly of Virginia requesting that a town be established."
