Biography

Most census data births calculate to 1812-1814 except low of 1796 and high of 1820.

Lewis McCann was born about 1813 in Tompkins County (then Seneca) where John McCann and Lydia Taylor lived at the time. No absolute proof has been found to prove this relationship, but early census data in the right place and time and lack of other likely candidates makes this a reasonably sure relationship. Lewis died after 1880.

He married Sarah. Sarah was the daughter of Caleb and Mary (Jones) Briggs. Sarah was the widow of John Mawney[1] They had children:

  1. Louisa McCann b. c. 1832
  2. Wesley b. c. 1840
  3. Oliver b. c. 1845

Mc Cann-2581 and McCann-2988 appear to represent the same person because: I went looking for Sarah Briggs & found this. I've never seen the name spelled with a space. Merge into McCann-2988
