In looking at your contributions, I noticed that you are creating clear duplicates and then setting the profile as a rejected match to the original. At WikiTree, we have one profile per person. Please do not attempt to set up your own private tree by setting profiles as private and indicating a rejected match to the originals that you duplicate.
Welcome to WikiTree! Here is a guide to privacy settings. Only living people can be set as private. Anyone who died in the 1800s should be public or open.
We are glad that you want to contribute to our shared tree!
You are now a member of the WikiTree Community! Please remember that we are trying to build one Collaborative Global Family Tree which means only one profile per person. It is important to ensure that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced.
To help you get started, you might want to check out an introductory WikiTree video that a member created.
I noticed you clicked on the volunteer tab indicating that you would like to collaborate with other researchers and add information. However, you didn't explain in your message how you plan to contribute to our family tree.
If you want to become a full member with editing privileges, could you please let me know by posting a message on my profile page and telling me your plans so that I can confirm you?
Otherwise, you are welcome to search through WikiTree for your ancestors and post to the G2G forum as a Guest.
Either way, we are glad you found WikiTree and hope you will join us.
Upload a GEDCOM and create a GEDMatch report for an easy search to find your ancestor's profiles that already exist on WikiTree.
If you have research you want to share and to help us grow our tree through Collaboration, you can do so by volunteering. Keep in mind that you only need to do this if you are really going to add information.
When volunteering, please tell our greeters how you plan to contribute so that you will be confirmed. If all you want to do is add your own branch, that's okay! Once you are confirmed as a full member, your profile will become a part of our global family tree, so it's something to think about! ;-)
We hope that you enjoy your visit to WikiTree. If you have any questions, please ask and most of all, have fun!
