Hit a brick wall with my 3rd great grandfather John McNay. I've searched so many sites with misleading or wrong information.

I only know that he was born about 1832 in either England or Scotland. He passed away at the age of 26 in Oakbank, Balhannah, South Australia, Australia. I also know with searching with Ancestry, that he arrived on the Hyderabad ship that sailed from London 23rd November 1853 & Southampton 7th December 1853, arriving in Port Adelaide, South Australia, Australia 14th March 1854. By that record he was a farm hand in Dumfries, Scotland and he came with Elizabeth Rogerson. Elizabeth was born 1833 in Dryfesdale, Scotland and passed away 1875 in Oakbank, Balhannah, South Australia, Australia.

Hi Marc,

Welcome to Wikitree. I came across your profile as I like to look at new Victorian profiles going up on the site, and I saw your note about your brickwall ancestor. I suggest if you have time that you add the profiles to that brickwall into Wikitree, and then seek feedback on G2G, where the Wikitree community can sometimes help. Good luck in your search, Clare
