Humphrey, along with 4 other McQueary men joined the 27th MO. Mtd. Inf. on Aug 4 1861 in Johnson County, MO.
They all served in Company E- Humphrey "furnished 2 horses/ equipment. saddle-bridle-harness. 1 horse for his personal use and another for Regimental draft horse."

BUT he married Frances a Logan in "Event Date: 12 Dec 1853 --Event Place: Pulaski,Kentucky
AND the census record says KY...ALL their children were born in Kentucky.
Does not look like they moved to Missouri until after 1857 and before 1860.
This very well could be Humphrey's father and married to a stepmom..and their new family. And James A. age 18-19 when he joined his older brothers in the 27th Missouri.
