Comparing the Military records
The 27th Missouri James A McQueary enlisted in Johnson County Missouri, that is 127 miles away from Macon County, Missouri where the James Allen McQuary enlisted.
The 27th Missouri James A McQueary Muster Cards do not state and age.
However, on the same day August 4th 1861 there are 3 other McQuery boys that joined the exact Regiment and Company.
I will search for brothers of these names: James A.- Robert- John- Walker Barron McQueary he moved to Colorado.............his father was "William “Hog Bill” McQueary Jr. "
in Johnson County Missouri.
of the 2 James A McQuary, McQueary tells me there are 2 men.
This James McQuery was born 1841 in Macon City, Missouri
"Joined Duty with the "New Co. K 10th Missouri Infantry,
June 2, 1861 in Macon City for the term of 3 years."
His Enlistment Document states he was "born in Macon County, Missouri, his age is 20 years, he is 6' 1/2" tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair. Occupation: farmer."
There are 21 pages in fold3 for this soldier. No pages refer that he was transferred from the 27th Missouri Infantry Mounted or that he deserted that Regiment and came to the 10th.
Research Note
We need a source for the exact date of death of the James A. McQueary who enlisted in Johnson County, Missouri, of course IF there are 2.
This is the bio findagrave has, "James "Allen" McQuary served as a Union soldier in the Civil War--10th Regiment Infantry Volunteers Co. K. On August 7, 1863, Allen died of wounds from battle at Champion Hill, MS suffered on May 16, 1863." They have no sources to prove that it is the same James A McQueary that served in the 27th Missouri.
SO maybe we will have to make a new profile for the one we just merged,

Morn'n, there were 4 of the McQueary boys to join the 27th Missouri, and please do not be upset that they all have "deserted" on their muster cards, the 27th did not keep track of the men when they left the 27th on its dismounted situation and most of the men went to the 7th Regiment or the 10th or others. We have 2 of them done. Walker and James A., but I will be darned if I can find the John and the Robert, does not look like they were all 4 brothers? Any ideas? All the ones I have found, cuz' uncle's are too young or old. thank you
