Biography

Alexander Mcgregor was born about 1778 in Kirkmichael, Banffshire, Scotland.

Alexander married Grace Ann Cameron (born about 1784 in Scotland).

Together Alexander and Grace Ann had at least 11 known children, though not all of them survived to adulthood.

In the 1851 census Alexander (age 79), Agricultural Labourer, was the head of household at 55 Low Street, New Pitsligo, Tyrie, Aberdeenshire.[12][13] In the household were: Alexander Mcgregor 79, wife Grace Mcgregor 64, grandson Charles Mcgregor 12, grandson John Mcgregor 8, grandson David Mcgregor 1.

Alexander died on 28 January 1857 in New Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, aged 78. Alexander's death (age 79) was registered in 1857 in the Tyrie (Aberdeen) district.[14]

ref: 1851 census .. the 3 grandsons would appear to be children of son John (Mcgregor) McGregor (bef.1810-1885) and his 1st wife Ann Robertson (who died in 1850), all three grandchildren have been given the birthplace of Inverarity, Forfar, suggesting they are siblings, Inverarity is in Angus rather than Forfar, and 2 of the births, Charles and John, can be traced there
