Biography

Henry engaged in farming in Dale County, Alabama.

Henry Josephas Mixson (aka Mixon) was born on 11 August 1878 in Alabama, United States.[1] He was the son of Henry Josephas Mixson (~1839–1930) and Mary J. (Folsom) Mixson (1839-1902).[2]

In 1880, Henry Mixon, age 2 years, was living in the household of his father, Josephus Mixon, in Election Precinct 12 Centerville, Coffee, Alabama. Other members of the household were his mother, Mary, and 2 older siblings.[3]

When the 1900 United States Census was taken, Henry J. was living in the household of his father in Haw Ridge, Coffee County, Alabama, along with his mother and 2 siblings. He was 20 years old and working as a farmer.[4]

H. J. Mixon and Mittie Francis Hines were married on 11 September 1902 in Dale County, Alabama.[5]

Henry and Mittie were enumerated as a married couple with one child on the 1910 and 1920 United States Censuses for Rocky Head, Dale County, Alabama. Henry was working as a farmer.[6][7]

When the 1930 United States Census was taken, Henry and his wife were living in Westville, Dale County, Alabama. They were then the parents of a nine-year-old daughter. Henry was still working as a farmer.[8]

Henry and his family were living in Rocky Head, Dale County, Alabama when the 1940 United States Census was taken. Henry was still farming at the age of 61.[9]

Henry "Bud" Mixon died on 10 August 1956 in Dale County, Alabama, aged 78. He was buried in Memory Hill Cemetery, Dothan, Houston County, Alabama.[10][11]

Two surviving children were mentioned in his obituary: Dewitt Mixon and Mrs. Travis Martin.[10]
