The youngest child of the thirteen children of David and Elizabeth Troutman Montgomery, Martin J. ("Mark') Montgomery, was born in New Washington, Clark, Indiana on October 13, 1852. He was living with his parents in Fairmount Township at the time of the 1870 census, and he died four years later, on March 13, 1874, of smallpox. He,was buried in Brown Cemetery, Chambersburg, Pike County, Illinois.
