Francis was born about 1850. He is the son of William Morgan and Orra Gathright. In 1850, the family was living in Jackson County, Georgia.[1]
Note: Francis is not listed in the William Morgan Bible.[2] Nor does he appear on the 1860 census. There is a Benjamin Franklin Morgan on the 1860 census whose date of birth is given as 19 Dec 1849 in the family Bible, but who does not appear in the 1850 census. They may be the same person.
