Biography

Birth : Sarah Myers, daughter of Thomas Myers and Mary Close, was born on 9 Jul 1800 and baptised on 13 Jul 1800 at Lartington, Yorkshire, England; godparents William Hogget and [illegible] Hogget. ^{[1][2][3][4][5]} (Note she was originally named as Sarah Close on the parish register, but this has been struck out and Myers has been added. It's also not clear whether she was the daughter of Thomas rather than Richard, or whether this is another error which was not corrected at the time.)

Marriage and children : She married William Buckminster Lindsay in 1819 at Montpellier, Bear Lake, Idaho.^[4][6] They had 7 children :

1850 : In Pottawatamie, Iowa : Wm B. Linzy, no occupation (age 53, b. CT), with (presumed) wife Sarah (53, b. England) and children Sarah (15), Geo. (12) and Jane (24), all b. Canada. The families of Wm Linzy (age 24, b. NY) and Ephraim Linzy (age 30, b. Canada) are nearby. (Also the family of John Myers, blacksmith, age 35, b. England, who may be a relative.) ^[7]

Death : An unsourced Findagrave record gives that she died on 24 Oct 1852 and is buried at Centerville City Cemetery, Centerville, Davis County, Utah.^[2] This is corroborated on an "annotated 1850 census", although since Sarah evidently died after the census was taken it's not clear what evidence there is. ^[4]

Notes

An earlier version of the profile recorded a birth on 30 Mar 1797 at Peacham, Caldonia, VT, and death on 25 Dec 1873 at Bennington, Bear Lake, Idaho.^[6], but online trees at Ancestry indicate that these details appear to be her husband's.

A cryptic note from the "Utah Mormon Pioneer Overland Travel Database, 1847-1868" records that Sarah departed 30 June 1852, died on 24 Oct 1852 and immigrated on 27 Oct 1852.^[3]

Online trees record her with the middle name Hancock, but this appears to have arisen from an 1850 census record which places Sarah Hancock (age 52, b. England) and John Hancock (age 50, b. England) in Usborne, Huron, Canada West. There does not appear to be anything to link this record to Sarah Myers.
