The Will of Samuel Nelson of Plymouth, yeoman, was dated 17 June 1754 and proved on 3 April 1758 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife Sarah, his children, Ebenezer Nelson (youngest son), Hannah Dyer, widow of John Dyer, Samuel Nelson (second son), Samuel Nicolas Nelson, John Nelson (eldest son), Sarah Shurtleff, and Bathsheba Holmes, and his grandchildren, Sarah Cobb, Lemuel Morton Nelson, Samuel Nelson,

His inventory was taken on 28 April 1759 in Plymouth.[8]
In 1764, a list of claims and creditors was recorded. His son John Nelson petitioned the court to sell some of the land to pay for the debts.[9]
