The 1880 Dekalb Alabama census Twshp 8 Range 6 #7 shows the couple aged 39 and 37 both born Ga with 8 children all born Alabama. Mary Jane does not have a birthplace listed for her father, but shows the birthplace of her mother as Georgia.

Death 11 Nov 1890 (aged 47)
DeKalb County, Alabama
It should be noted that if Mary Jane was the daughter of James and Lavina Nicholson (rather than the granddaughter?), the birth place is highly questionable because James can be documented in Hall County Georgia in the late 1830s and his son Mercer, at least, was in Dekalb Co. Alabama by the early 1840's. We have no record showing James in Cobb County.
