Biography

Hulda was born about 1893 in September. She was the daughter of Herman Nixdorf and Tofilia Nurenberg. She immigrated to Canada with her parents and siblings in 1901. They farmed northwest of Jansen, Saskatchewan. In about 1911, she married William Stallman and their daughter Olga was born in 1912. In 1916, she worked as a servant for Roy and Nellie Johnson in the Ayre Municipality.

In 1921, Holda Stalman was a widow, working for Albert Swartz (Schwartz). Her three children Olga Stalman, Helen Swartz and Bessie Swartz (Freda Elizabeth) were living with her. (Family records state she married Albert, but there is no official record to prove they were married.) She later moved to St. Catharines where some of her siblings were living. Hulda Stalman passed away in 1962 in St. Catharines and was buried in Victoria Lawn Cemetery.

• 1921 Hulda Stalman age 26, born 1895 Russia; lived in Prairie Rose Municipality, Humboldt District, Saskatchewan; worked as a farm helper for Albert Swartz age 41; Hulda Stallman age 26 also had her children living with Albert. The children were Olga Stallman age 9 (from her first marriage), born in Alberta and Helen Swartz age 3 born in Saskatchewan and Bessie Swartz (Freda Elizabeth) age 2, born Saskatchewan.
