Biography

Caroline Partridge, the third child of John Partridge & Charlotte (Rose) Partridge, may have been born in 1841^[1], although her birth was actually registered in West Bromwich in Q2 1843^[2][3][4].

She never married, but after the death in 1866 of her mother, she lived with and looked after the household for her father and younger brothers John Thomas and Frederick Rose^[5].

Whilst she never married, she had two illegitimate sons: Frederick James Partridge born Q1 1873 and baptised 1 Oct 1873^[6] and John William Partridge, born end-April 1874. Unfortunately, Caroline died in Grantham on 9 Jun 1874 not long after the first birthday of her son, and was buried on 12 June in Grantham, Lincolnshire^[7][8]. Her youngest son John William Partridge died the following week, at the age of only seven weeks.

Research Note

A second person named Caroline Partridge, whose mother's maiden name was also "Rose", was born on 3 May 1843 at Mares Green, West Bromwich^[9][10]. This was an unrelated and different person.
