Florence Elsie Penn^[1] was born on 2 July 1878,^[1][2] in Pennsylvania,^[2][3] to John F Penn and Sarah Elizabeth Thomas.^[1][2]

On 12 June 1878, she was baptized in the Bridesburg Methodist Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. ^[1]

In 1880, she was living with her parents in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her father, John, was a laborer. ^[3]

In 1900, she was living with her parents at 5335 Eadom Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her father was an expressman. ^[4]

In 1910, she was living with her father at 5335 Eadom Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her father was an expressman. ^[5]

In 1920, Florence was living at 5335 Eadom Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was living with John and Mary Hoffman. Florence did homework at a store. (The census claims that she was 30 years old, which does not match her actual age, but the address confirms her identity.)\ ^[6]

In 1930, Florence was a boarder at 4646 Tackawanna Street, with Franklin and Margaret Froboes. Florence was a private houseworker. ^[7]
