King by his Attorney vs. Timothy Phillips, Middlesex County, Sheriff. For withholding goods.[2]
"Resolves for payments to Major James Converse, Captain Timothy Phillips, . . . July 18, 1699." He was living in Charlestown, MA on Dec. 20, 1697. As Constable, he gave deposition about a riot in Charlestown on Jan. 24 1690. [3]
He was the first Sheriff of Middlesex County following the Andros Period. He served for 10 years, fron 1692 to 1702. His business appears to have been that of a landlord or common-victualler.[1]
"Voted for allowing 10 pounds out of the Province Treasury to Timothy Phillips, Sheriff of Middlesex County towards his expenses and fees in several cases of whichcraft tried in that county in 1692 . . .for several prisoners accused and tried for witchcraft . . ."[4]
