DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
Apparently biographical details for two different women named Mary Platt were merged into this one profile at some point in the past. The two women were Mary, daughter of Issac Platt and Elizabeth Wood (Entered by Tom Kelly, Apr 21, 2012, and removed on 26 April 2016) and Mary Platt who was the daughter of John Benedict and Hannah Clark and who is identified as the wife of Benjamin Benedict. Mary the daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth is represented by Platt-843. The Ancestry Family Tree cited on this page is private; it's not clear which Mary Platt it describes.
The name of Mary's parents have been changed. Probably the best evidence for this change is that she is named as Mary Benedict in the will of John Platt.
The source that I found (and added to the profile for Benjamin Benedict) that suggests that his wife was Mary Platt indicates her to be the daughter of Platt-26, not the man to whom she is currently connected.
