Joseph Bradford Pothier was the son of Jean Toussaint Pothier and Angele Boudreau.[1]
He was born September 27, 1898[2] in Tusket Wedge, Nova Scotia[3][4], and was baptised that same day at St. Michael's[2] in Tusket Wedge.[4]
He grew up in the family home on the Nicholas Road in Tusket Wedge.[3]
He married Marguerite Clara Thibault on September 27, 1943 in Kentville, Nova Scotia.[2]

In 1908 residents petitioned the Provincial Government for town incorporation and on 16 May 1910, the Town of Wedgeport was officially incorporated. The communities currently known as Upper Wedgeport, Wedgeport, and Lower Wedgeport, became a single town, separate from the Municipality of Argyle.
