Biography

My maternal great-grandfather. He was a child of about 5-7 yrs old during the Battle of Lookout Mtn during the Civil War, living in their home in Chattanooga below the Mtn. He heard the whole battle. He and his older sister Elizabeth were being cared for my their Nanny alone during the battle, while their parents (my gr-gr grandparents James McPherson Pratchard & Nancy Hanks Pratchard), were temporarily in Kentucky.

Thomas Pratchard was born in 1856. He passed away in 1928 and is buried in Brainerd Methodist Church Cemetery, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tn.
