Pauline was the twin sister of Mamie Preston, born September 13, 1875 in Climax Michigan to Christian Heinrich Wilhelm Prestin, better known as William Prestin, and Cristina Maria Dorothea Staplefeldt Prestin, better known as Dorothy Prestin.

Minor and Pauline adopted Doris, born about 1900, Dorothy born about the same year, and John born about 1919.
